Our chaplains are available 24 hours a day to help patients and families sort through complex and emotionally devastating issues such as loss, crisis, helplessness, pain and suffering, with care and compassion. Our chaplains offer gentle guidance and support on "End of Life" decisions, while preserving the respect and dignity of each and every patient.
We are here to pray for you, with you and to offer a pastoral presence during your stay. With your prior approval, clergy from all denominations are welcome to visit members of their congregation.
The Medical Center's Core Values are as much a part of our Pastoral Care Services as is our Mission. The Core Values of Professionalism, Compassion, Quality, Responsibility, and Safety become intricately intertwined in our daily presence to all we serve.
The Pastoral Care Staff is committed to offer their services in a highly professional and compassionate manner with compassion always being at the forefront of our ministry. We are here to meet the emotional needs, as well as enhance the spiritual life of all entrusted in our care. Our support is diversified in order to meet the complex needs of all those we serve.
We offer bereavement support groups for those suffering the loss of a loved one. For our fellow employees and physicians, we are here to help celebrate joyous times such as departmental blessings and special masses as well as offering comfort during difficult times.
We extend the gentleness of our hand and open our hearts to those who are dying and alone. Our staff considers it not only our responsibility, but our privilege to reach out to our surrounding communities who are in need. We work side by side with the Mission and Cultural Awareness Committee on projects such as the Mary Potter Shelter Days, offering hope for people and families in need.
We present educational classes on Advance Directives to ensure a complete understanding of what Advance Directives are, enabling you to make an informed decision on your End of Life care. You can be confident that the Pastoral Care Department is committed to ensuring that we have met or exceeded all your Pastoral Care needs.
All are invited to visit the Hospital Chapel located in the North Pavilion on the second floor, near the elevators. The serenity of the Chapel can offer a peaceful reprieve for those coping with the illness of a loved one. Our Catholic patients are offered daily Communion as well as the opportunity to receive other sacraments such as Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick.
