Inpatient Care

A hospitalist is a doctor who manages your care during your hospital stay. Hospitalists are medical doctors who typically specialize in internal medicine. They choose to work in the hospital setting instead of the outpatient practice setting.

Hospitalist Program

At least one of the hospitalists is in the medical center 24 hours a day, staying in close contact with you, your loved ones and your primary care physician.

If a major issue occurs while you are in the hospital, the hospitalist will discuss it with your primary care physician. When you are discharged from the hospital, your primary care physician will resume your medical care.

Ask your nurse if you have any questions about when you may expect to see the hospitalist.
