Our inpatient school program helps students in the hospital focus on learning, while we focus on getting them better.
Your child’s education will be supported by certified teachers and trained tutors from the moment they are admitted to the hospital. With your approval, our team will contact your child’s school to get any assignments and learning materials. We can also help your child with:
We also keep young minds active by offering educational games, a selection of fiction and nonfiction books, science demonstrations, art projects and more.
To help students of all grade levels, our supply closet is equipped with school supplies and materials, including:
Every child is offered a free book from our library to keep during their stay, whether they are receiving tutoring or not. Our library includes many Accelerated Reader titles, which can align with your school’s AR program.
Each year, the school program gives hundreds of books to our patients. Our library is funded through grants and generous community donations. Donating books is a meaningful way to support our work and make a difference in the lives of our young patients.
Our young patients benefit from a team of volunteers who donate 3-6 hours each week to support the inpatient school program. They bring a wide range of skills to the tutoring program, from teaching to health care.
If you know someone who is interested in volunteering, please contact us at (309) 655-2118.
Children and their families have access to all the resources they need for a successful home-schooling experience while we focus on their health.
We provide all necessary forms and documentation for you to get started, as well as information on specialized education plans, like IEPs or 504s.
Our expert tutoring staff has developed a recommended reading list for children of all ages, including:
