Our Hospital Medicine program consists of physicians and Advanced Practice Providers who specialize in the medical care of inpatients while communicating with family physicians. An on-site Hospital Medicine provider, also called a Hospitalist, means that inpatients receive prompt, quality medical care without waiting for off-site physicians to visit or call.
Many hospitals around the country are adopting Hospital Medicine programs to promote efficient inpatient care, reduce safety risks, and provide a better patient experience.
Many of our Primary Care Physicians have partnered with the hospital to participate in the Hospital Medicine program. Any care you require while hospitalized will be delivered to you by one of our Hospitalists. In the event of an emergency, OSF Saint Katharine Hospitalists are close by to respond quickly.
We are dedicated to providing the best patient care experience with the goal of delivering care that will restore and enhance your health and our Hospital Medicine program plays a key role in achieving that goal. Our experienced team of Hospitalists strives to always treat you with courtesy and respect – they listen carefully to you and explain things so that you and your family can understand.
To ensure seamless patient care, OSF Saint Katharine Hospitalists keep your primary care physician informed of your health status during your stay. Upon your discharge from our inpatient unit, our Hospitalists will work with your primary care provider to arrange for follow up care. If you do not have a primary care physician, our staff will work with you to help establish with a doctor before your discharge.
