Security

OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group maintains policies, procedures and ongoing staff training to ensure the safety and security of its patients and employees.

Emergency Department

The OSF St. Francis Emergency Department is a lock-down facility with private patient rooms that are accessible by physicians and staff, along with patients and family members who are escorted by an authorized staff member.

OB/Nursery Department

The OSF St. Francis OB/Nursery Department is locked during the evenings. Visitors must enter through the Emergency Department and are escorted to the OB/Nursery.

A HUGS system is in place 24/7. HUGS alarm tags are placed on infants when they are born and secured until discharge.

If a baby is brought too close to a door or alarm, an alarm system will alert staff and automatically place the department on a lock-down to ensure the baby is kept safely within the department.

Disaster Planning

OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group conducts routine trainings to prepare for various emergency situations that may occur within the facility.

The hospital is also part of a county-wide emergency operations committee that conducts routine trainings to prepare for potential county-wide situations.
