Wound Care

OSF Wound Care supports the Mission of OSF HealthCare by providing quality wound care to clients and the community and augmenting and complementing existing OSF HealthCare services.

National Recognition

OSF St. Joseph Wound Care Clinic has been honored as a 2018 President’s Circle Center of Excellence by Healogics, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.

To qualify, our Wound Care Center® achieved patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days to heal.

This is the second year in a row OSF St. Joseph Wound Care Clinic has been awarded this designation.

Services

Wound care is provided to patients aged 10 and over with chronic, non-healing wounds greater than 30 days.

These include individuals with slow-healing wounds or those with both an acute or chronic wound and a co-morbidity, which might inhibit wound healing.

We treat wounds such as:

  • Abscesses
  • Arterial ulcers
  • Atypical ulcers (pyoderma gangrenosum or calciphylaxis)
  • Burns
  • Decubitus ulcers
  • Diabetic ulcers
  • Lacerations
  • Non-healing surgical wounds
  • Traumatic wounds
  • Venous ulcers

  • Home care coordination

What to Expect

All OSF Wound Care Clinic patients receive an initial screening, where we will take your history, and your wounds will be measured, cleaned and assessed.

We will ask for your written consent to take pictures of the wound(s) and for debridement, biopsy, incision and drainage, laceration management, or other procedures if needed.

Often, you, your significant other and your other health care providers may be included in the process.

Once we've finished the initial screening, your wound care provider will review the findings and share treatment options with you.
