Understanding Intimacy Issues After Cancer

Cancer treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, can cause changes in sexual desire and function. In addition to the physical burden, it can cause mental and emotional barriers as well, including struggling with body image, feelings of insecurity and emotional distance in relationships. These issues can lead to both you and your partner feeling distant or anxious, making intimacy difficult.

Who Needs Intimacy Support?

Intimacy issues can affect all those who have had cancer, as well as their partners. Those who have gone through treatment for reproductive, genital, prostate, rectal, anal or breast cancer are particularly vulnerable to intimacy challenges.

Common Intimacy Challenges for Those with Cancer

The Intimacy Clinic can address a number of issues that those with cancer face, including:

During your first appointment at the Intimacy Clinic, our specialists will:

  • Facilitate an open, supportive conversation about what intimacy challenges are impacting you the most
  • Offer personalized support from advanced practice providers, physical therapists and licensed counselors
  • Create a customized plan to address specific intimacy concerns

Insurance is billed for all facility and provider fees.
