What is vein disease?
Veins carry blood through your body and back to your heart. Unhealthy habits and certain medical conditions can lead to vein problems, such as:
- Spider veins – Clusters of visible veins on your face or legs
- Varicose veins – Swollen, enlarged veins deeper in the skin than spider veins
- Venous insufficiency (venous reflux disease) – Damaged vein valves that can’t keep blood flowing forward
Vein disease in your legs may make them feel heavy, achy or weak. You may also experience itchy, burning or tingling skin. Treatment can help you feel better.
