iVantage Health Analytics and the National Organization of State Office of Rural Health (NOSORH)

The rankings have been designated by the Hospital Strength INDEX™, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of hospital performance. In partnership with NOSORH, iVantage Health Analytics has developed a data-driven program designed to identify excellence across a broad spectrum of indicators relevant to hospital performance and patient care. The Hospital Strength INDEX™ captures performance metrics for more than 4,000 acute care hospitals, including over 1,300 rural and Critical Access Hospitals. Leveraging data from public data sources, INDEX aggregates data from 66 individual metrics into three major categories and 9 pillars to derive a single strength overall rating for each facility.

Leapfrog Award for Safety

This year we were awarded the Leapfrog Award for Safety recognizing our performance in patient safety and quality. We were pleased to find that we were the only CAH in Illinois who has received this prestigious honor for 2015.

Our President, Patty Luker was recognized by the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) for her many years of work and dedication in the arena of CAHs Leadership and by being a key voice for both state and national CAH legislation.

IONL Top 40 Emerging Nurse Leader Under 40 – Shana Kennon RN, BSN

Our ED Director/Disaster Preparedness Coordinator, Shana Kennon RN, BSN was recognized at Rush University on September 17th 2015 as a “40 under 40 Emerging Nurse Leader”. The 40 under 40 Emerging Nurse Leader award is sponsored by the Illinois Nurses Foundation and the Illinois Healthcare Action Coalition. Shana was nominated for her commitment and dedication to the Emergency Department along with several innovative projects that have not only improved Press Ganey scores but has brought the ED staff together as a cohesive team.

Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award

OSF Holy Family Medical Center was recently named as a recipient of the Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award. This award recognizes OSF Holy Family for their outstanding quality of care.

There were 452 hospitals that achieved the 2015 Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award^™, distinguished as the top 15% of hospitals nationally, based on how their own patients responded to the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey for visits occurring between January and December of 2013.

One of the Cleanest Hospitals in United States

OSF Holy Family Medical Center is proud to announce that they are ranked #3 among the Becker's Top 52 list of cleanest hospitals in the United States.

This ranking pays tribute to the many hard working employees that have achieved the long term success required to generate such superior results.

The rating was based on scores of more than 89 percent on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems rating for "percent of patients who reported that their room and bathroom were 'always' clean." The reporting period for this data covers the period January through December 2013.

Emergent Stroke Ready Hospital (ESRH)

Stroke designation for OSF Holy Family Medical Center now allows local access to the care needed beginning the moment they enter the hospital to the time the lifesaving drug is administered within the recommended 60 minute treatment window.

In 2009, the Illinois General Assembly passed MB2244, allowing the creation of stroke systems of care in Illinois. The law identifies hospitals capable of providing emergent stroke care and directs EMS to transport possible acute stroke patients to these hospitals.

If, however, the closest hospital has not received its Emergent Stroke Ready Hospital designation, EMS personnel may divert that patient to the next closest designated hospital. With our local hospital designated, it now means stroke patients can receive high quality treatment right here in their own community.

In response, the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) created its Stroke Initiative in March of 2010 to increase the number of small and rural hospitals achieving the designation. The initiative has received international attention for its success in treating stroke patients in the rural areas of Illinois.

One of America's Top Doctors

Matthew Weidman, MD from OSF Holy Family Medical Center has been recognized as one of America’s Top Doctors by U.S. News and World Report ranking. U.S. News and World Report ranks top doctors to help guide consumers to top specialists and primary care doctors in their area who can best address specific medical needs.

According to U.S. News and World Report, physicians must go through a nomination process. “U.S. News has teamed up with Castle Connolly, a New York City-based company that has been working for nearly two decades to identify the nation's top doctors.

Castle Connolly bases its Top Doctors selections on nominations submitted by other doctors and reviewed by its physician-led research team. U.S. News will make information about each Top Doctor freely available to the general public.”

American College of Radiology Accreditation

In May 2013, OSF Holy Family Medical Center was awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

Mammography is a specific type of imaging test that uses a low-dose X-ray system to examine breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.

The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 36,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
