The School of Medical Laboratory Science is certified for enrolled veterans to participate in the Illinois Veterans Benefits Program. Additional grants and loans may be obtained in conjunction with the student’s' affiliated college or university. The School of CLS does not participate in any state or federal financial aid programs. Scholarship information, if available, will be shared with all students accepted into the program.
The application and acceptance fees are non-refundable. Tuition refunds will be made only after an official letter of withdrawal has been filed with the program director and according to the policy outlined in the student handbook. Tuition will not be refunded to students dismissed from the program for academic or disciplinary reasons.
Private housing is the responsibility of the student; housing is not generally available through the medical center. Suggestions of local area housing may be provided to students enrolled in the program. Please contact the School of CLS for more information.
Students may work while enrolled in the Medical Laboratory Science program, provided such employment is outside of the regularly scheduled instructional time. There are often part-time work opportunities for CLS students in the laboratory each year as laboratory assistants. Additional information will be given to students accepted into the program regarding application for these positions.

Beginning August 1, 2019, and despite any policy to the contrary, the OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center School of Medical Laboratory Science will not take any of the four following actions toward any student using U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Post 9/11 G.I. Bill® (Ch. 33) or Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Ch. 31) benefits, while their payment from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs is pending to the educational institution:

Credit for Previous Education:
OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center – School of Medical Laboratory Science will grant appropriate credit for previous education from an accredited institution for courses required as prerequisite coursework for the program. Veterans will be required to present appropriate documentation as a part of their application to the program in order to assess the credit to be assigned.
OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center School of Medical Laboratory Science does not accept transfer students from other Medical Laboratory Science programs due to the complexity of evaluating those institutions’ didactic and clinical education programs and demonstrated competencies.
There is no fee for student parking.
Students receive the employee discount in the hospital cafeteria when wearing their OSF nametag.
