Hospice is for patients of all ages with a life-limiting illness with a prognosis of six months or less to live, and who have decided not to pursue curative or life prolonging treatment but instead want to focus on palliative (comfort) care.
Choosing hospice care does not mean one is “giving up” on life, but they are choosing to invest their energy in living. The treatment goal of hospice is symptom management, comfort care and pain control.
It is about supporting individuals with competent, compassionate caregivers so they can make that journey well with their family and loved ones in the face of chronic, progressive or life-threatening illness.

OSF Hospice recognizes that each person’s situation is different. We focus on meeting you and your family’s specific needs, so you can focus on what matters – quality time with loved ones.
The OSF Hospice philosophy is to provide care for the terminally ill and their significant others in the comfort of their own home or home-like surroundings. OSF Hospice care allows the terminally ill to live out their last days among the people and things they love, as comfortable and pain free as possible.
OSF Home Care Services offers a variety of hospice and home health related services across central and northern Illinois and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Availability of services varies per location and region. For help, please visit our locations page or call (800) 673-5288.
Families turn to OSF Hospice for compassionate care of their loved one. Many of those families, and even hospice patients, have shared what it means to have OSF Hospice by their side.
