Become an OSF Hospice Home Volunteer

We are often asked what volunteers do at the home and the reality is that we have a need for any talent. Hospice volunteers choose the volunteer role they are most comfortable with, from spending time with patients and their families by reading, praying, or playing cards with them to serving at the front desk.

Some volunteers do not want to work directly with patients and instead choose to assist with clerical duties, community presentations, public speaking, gardening, holiday decorating, grocery shopping, errands, baking cookies and more. The volunteer opportunities are endless.

During training, volunteers learn about hospice, the OSF team, death and dying, signs and symptoms of diagnosis, how to talk with the patients and their loved ones, religious and cultural diversity, and grief issues.

Everyone has an opportunity to contribute and make a difference to our patients and their families, directly or indirectly. Our volunteers often say that they always get back far more than they give, and they grow and feel blessed from the experience.

If you are interested in volunteering at the OSF Hospice Home, please fill out the form below and a member of our caregiver team will be in touch shortly.
