The Department of Pharmacy at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center is driven by its guiding principles to be a recognized leader in providing pharmaceutical care services across the health care continuum.
We are focused on patient engagement, partnership with other healthcare professionals, use of innovative strategies and best practices.
Our commitment to practicing evidence-based medicine, as well as educational and research excellence, ensures that our team provides high quality care.
The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis believe that all Mission Partners working for our organization have been called to contribute their time and talents to serve everyone with “the greatest care and love.” OSF employees are "Mission Partners" with The Sisters, working to nurture patients through sickness and restore their health. At OSF HealthCare, talent flows where it is most valued. We nurture an inclusive culture where individuals of diverse backgrounds are acknowledged and valued equitably for their unique skills and abilities.
Pharmacists participate in bedside rounds, provide drug information, manage dosing of anticoagulants, antibiotics, and medications requiring adjustment for renal dysfunction, monitor high-risk and narrow therapeutic index medications, participate in codes and assist in clarifying medication histories.
Clinical surveillance tools are used to maximize the value of clinical pharmacy services on those patients who will benefit the most.
We ensure pharmaceutical product availability and integrity from the point of acquisition until administration to a patient.
We provide pharmaceutical products throughout our Ministry in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Currently, Pharmacy Supply Chain helps to manage OSF’s relationship with our Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), pharmaceutical suppliers, and distributors as well as mitigate drug shortages across our Ministry.
Pharmacy Informatics works to improve safety and efficiency through optimization of our electronic health records (EHR) and medication use throughout the Ministry.
Through evaluation of medication use and workflow design, Pharmacy Informatics supports the medication use process.
Informatics also provides EHR training for new pharmacy Mission Partners and acts as a liaison between Pharmacy and Information Technology.
