Foundation Nurse Navigation

Nurse Navigation

One of the cutting-edge services offered to patients and their families at the OSF HealthCare Cancer Institute will be Nurse Navigation. A nurse navigator is an advocate for patients and their families to ensure an individualized treatment plan is integrated during their care. They provide education and guidance with the newly diagnosed cancer patient. A Nurse Navigator will follow patients throughout the continuum of their cancer care ending when a patient’s treatment is completed.

Mission Minded Care

We Lead with Our Mission

At OSF HealthCare, our Mission is to serve persons with the greatest care and love in the spirit of Christ and the example of Francis of Assisi. This Mission-minded care model represents more than a philosophy; it’s the very heart of OSF. It’s a banner arching over us, compelling us to extend the compassion of Christ through the full continuum of cancer care. It’s why we serve the entirety of each cancer patient — mind, body and spirit — meeting every need with clear communication, relational empathy and a kind, human approach. At OSF, we honor every patient’s individuality with a care plan that’s as unique as they are, provided by a designated team that supports them before, during and after treatment. In all of our efforts, our goal is to be a safe haven of respect and kindness. We strive to change not just how cancer care is carried out, but also how it feels.

Foundation Collaborative Care Teams
Our Collaborative Care Teams
It takes a team to care for a patient's mind, body and spirit. OSF supports patients and their families with a designated care team of surgeons, specialists, nurse navigators and care providers, all sharing care together on every patient’s behalf.

Collaborating to Make a Difference
Jump Trading Simulation & Education Center and our collaborative relationship with the University of Illinois Colleges of Engineering and Medicine raise our shared level of care, driving us toward National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation.

How do we care?

At OSF HealthCare, it isn’t good enough to just be experts in cancer care. As a Catholic health system, our Mission “to serve persons with the greatest care and love” is in the fiber of everything we do. That’s why we have dedicated teams of professionals working hand-in-hand with each patient — making them the center of their healthcare experience. Whether answering questions about  treatment or getting to know the hopes and dreams of the individual, our team works tirelessly to create an environment of confidence and trust. With access to our entire ministry, which includes 14 hospitals and 2,200 physicians and practitioners, our patients get the care they deserve.

Our Mission is the heart of all we do at OSF, and it is the heart of our Cancer Institute, too. Treating every person with the greatest care and love — that will be our catalyst for changing the lives of all who walk through our doors.
