OSF HealthCare Illinois Neurological Institute’s (OSF INI) Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center is the only facility in Central Illinois that provides specialized evaluation and treatment of patients with movement disorders.
It is our goal to provide not only support via medication, but through the holistic care of the patient and their family. We understand the impact of chronic illness on our patients and their families and work tirelessly to improve all aspects of our patients’ lives.
Although documented reports are lacking at this moment, Parkinson's disease patients are not at a higher risk for contracting coronavirus.
However, patients with advanced Parkinson's disease who do get COVID-19 will be more susceptible to respiratory complications, delirium, worsening of their motor symptoms, or probably unfavorable outcome.
Prevention is the key – so take all steps to minimize exposure to the disease and others who may have it.
