What is Craniosynostosis?

In about one of every 2,000 live births, the sutures in a baby’s skull close too early, which is called craniosynostosis. This condition may cause problems with normal brain and skull growth, create abnormal pressure inside a child’s head, or cause skull or facial bones to become irregular in shape.
