Treatment starts with a proper diagnosis. Your OSF INI team and its board-certified neurologists conduct a thorough evaluation including nerve conduction studies (NCS) and electromyography (EMG) and muscle/nerve biopsies. Once they arrive at an expert diagnosis, your treatment plan is put into place. Your treatment may include:

• Medication
• Referrals to appropriate specialists, such as neurosurgeons, physical, speech or occupational therapists, physiatrists, pulmonary specialist or pain specialist
• Counseling and education for you and your family and support system
• Further diagnostic testing, if necessary
